Quintet

Practice the relationships between meridians, their associated muscles and metaphors, their positions in the Five-Element scheme and the wheel, and their linked acupressure points in a playful way.

For this quintet, five cards have been developed for each meridian: the associated muscles; the metaphors/emotions; the meridian's pathway and time of activity; the Five Elements and their qualities; and the acupressure points, including the pain-tappping point and the Luo point.

It can be played very simply like a Quintet, but you can also expand it by naming the content of the card you want from another player before it is handed over.

IDEAS:

• Do you have the Stomach Metaphor Cards, which include the text "Can you say no"?
• Do you have the muscle chart for the Stomach? Name a few muscles or perform the muscle test for the primary muscle.
• Demonstrate the course of the Spleen meridian and state the time on the clock when the meridian is most active.
• To which element does the meridian belong, and name a few qualities of that element?
• Identify the Luo point among the acupressure points.

• You can draw a card for a theme and see what the relationship is with your theme.

• Lay out the meridian cards in the order of the wheel.
• Draw a card and name what is on it. Your fellow student will mention other aspects of that meridian. For example: you draw the Liver meridian card. Your fellow student names the muscles associated with the Liver meridian, a few emotions characteristic of the Liver meridian, or the element to which the Liver meridian belongs.

• Draw a card and test the muscle in question with your fellow student. Your fellow student can feel and guess which muscle is being tested.
Perhaps the muscle feeling will help you to remember even more where the muscle is in your body.
If necessary, look up the anatomical picture of the muscle in your TFH manual.
• Find the cards of the muscles belonging to the element earth etc.

• Put all the cards that belong to the elements together and put them together as shown in the picture on the right.
